And now, an April 19th update.
We knew it would happen – pressure of work.
Previously the all-new DM1 “ultra compact rig” was heading for late April release but it will now be in the month of May.
About 3 weeks later than planned but we’re close.
The 12″ bass unit which also contains the 2 channel Powersoft
DCell504 amplifier/dsp module is complete.
The 4 x 4″ top has completed evaluation mode and will be ready by early May at the latest.
A little more work has taken place on the DM404 top cabinet and it does generate that Blue Acoustic signature fullness and separation that everyone has come to expect from our products.
It certainly does not sound like other small driver systems.
We’ve stuck with the simple design of the dual angle stand mount and, have decided to also to use our own style recessed handle in the top.
We don’t like the idea of external metalwork for the cabinet support and we’re still convinced that as most cabs of this size don’t offer a handle, ours will.
The bass cabinet, like any good LF drive model, is the appropriate size to produce excellent LF response in addition, it houses the two channel Powersoft amplifier/DSP module.
A further question has been do the top cabs fit inside the bass cabs for transport for which the answer is; no they don’t.
This is deliberate for two good reasons.
One; the tops and the supporting cabinetry would require the use of approximately 20 – 25% of the bass cabinet’s internal volume which would then reduce the bass performance of the LF unit.
Two; if you made the LF cabinet bigger to accept the tops it would make it much heavier and consequently difficult to carry.
We now anticipate a release date of mid May 2017.
As we mentioned before, we refuse to rush the process as we’re well aware of other design failures coming from inexperienced manufacturers where poorly designed product has been “pushed to market” far too soon.
The customer always pays the price of failure in these circumstances.
The crossover point between the cabinets has been determined at 140Hz.
Higher than we would like but low enough to keep any obvious mid range signals appearing from the bass cabinet.
In addition, cabinet sizes are set and covers will be produced in the next week or so.
Grilles are also complete.
The whole DM1 process has been a methodical journey of getting things right the first time with no need for change or alteration after release – for our customers benefit.
With the DM1 the sum of all parts will be an entirely new Blue Acoustic system with all the clarity and detail you would expect from the brand name that breathes ultimate quality.
We offer you the user benefits you would wish to have and your results will always be the overall sound quality you would rarely achieve elsewhere.
Keep checking back to see more – soon.
